ORLANDO - Jefferson High senior quarterback Quentin Williams, the most prolific passer in Florida history and the 2010 Florida Mr. Football award recipient, stared at the JumboTron at the Florida Citrus Bowl with a euphoric grin on his face.

"That says Class 3A state championship, the Jefferson Dragons," he said. "That means I got a ring."

On Friday, Jefferson completed one of the most memorable seasons in state history, capping an undefeated season with a 44-34 defeat against Miami Norland in the 3A state football championship game. The championship marks the first state team title in school history.

Jefferson’s O-line is backbone of high-powered offense

They may not be the biggest offensive line, but Jefferson’s unit has certainly showed they can be one of the most effective. Jefferson’s offense has wracked up 5,917 total yards and a state-leading 625 total points, which included 530 in the regular season to set a state record. And let’s not forget this offensive line, which consists of senior center Alain Del Rio (5-foot-10, 274 lbs.), senior guard Manny Cromuel (6-2, 295), senior guard Kevin Reeves (6-2, 305), senior tackle Domingo Cabrera (6-3, 270) and senior tackle Delryn Wilson (6-3, 290) – has also protected the state’s leading passer and career passing touchdowns leader Quentin Williams.

Dragons set scoring record
By NICK WILLIAMS | The Tampa Tribune
Jefferson coach Mike Fenton has preached to his team the importance of viewing this season as a journey. But Friday night, the Dragons traveled to a destination that no other team in Florida history has seen.

Jefferson capped a perfect regular season with a 63-21 win over Plant City and in the process set the state record for points in a regular season with 530. The Dragons had 467 points entering Friday's game and needed 62 for the record. That milestone occurred late in the fourth quarter on a 5-yard run by senior running back Demetrius Russell.

"That's a tremendous accomplishment," Fenton said. "The credit goes out to this whole football team."

Senior quarterback Quentin Williams, who is chasing the state record of 100 career touchdown passes, led Jefferson with 492 yards and six touchdowns. He threw for 300 yards and five TDs in the first half.  Full Story...

Who would have won: Plant or Jefferson?
Wed. September 15, 2010 | John C. Cotey | Email

We decided since ESPNU meddled in our business and took away what would have been the Game of the Week when it signed up Plant to take on Abilene in Texas, we were going to have some fun with it anyway.

So we debated, hemmed and hawed, put a few county coaches on the spot, and came up with a conclusion: the winner of Thursday's no-longer-scheduled Plant-Jefferson game would have been....Watch the video! Full Story...

Dragons roll past Lakewood
By SCOTT PURKS - Tribune correspondent
It took a while for Jefferson's Dragons to rev up, but once they did they rolled visiting Class 3A-District 8 foe Lakewood, 50-14.

Perhaps most telling was the score at the end of the first quarter (Lakewood 7, Jefferson 6) compared to the score at halftime (Jefferson 26, Lakewood 7).

Jefferson quarterback Quentin Williams missed on his first three passes, but he finished the first half with 180 yards and a touchdown. Williams finished with 383 passing yards and four touchdowns, completing 17 of 25 attempts. Full Story...
